Because of it's hollow structure bamboo is machined into thin rectangular strips. These strips are generally glued and pressed together to make products like chopping boards and flooring.

Beamboo proposes to use these bamboo strips for the construction of bamboo I-beams which can be cut , glued and riveted together to make strong and lightweight eco-friendly furniture structures.
